Heirloom Musical Creations uses only the world class Sankyo Orpheus 50 and 72 note music box movements. They are known for their rich bell-like tones. These exquisite mechanisms are manufactured to exacting standards of quality and workmanship, and are considered by many to be unsurpassed. Sankyo has continued to refine their music box movements for over 50 years. Attention is given to both function and appearance. The base frame is solid and substantial. Parts of the movement are highly polished for visual appeal. A Geneva stop, found only on the finest music box movements, helps prevent over-winding. And the damping materials are long lasting. With proper care, these precision music box movements will provide enjoyment for generations.
Both the 50 note and the 72 note movements are extraordinary. The primary difference is the fuller range of sound and harmony from the 72 note music box movements due to the availability of more teeth on the comb. This does not mean that the 50 note movements do not have a rich and pleasing sound, however. Most music box movements play one melody in 3 parts or 3 different melodies by shifting the brass barrel between each part. Each movement will surprise and delight you!
